Year: 2024
Duration: 4 months
Project Type: Graduate Student Project
Project Overview
Designed and produced a 360° immersive media experience, translating conceptual designs into a fully realized projection-based installation. Led content creation and workflow development across tools like Unreal Engine, Protools, VRChat, Pixera, Disguise, and After Effects to build a cohesive visual and audio pipeline. Collaborated in a production team to integrate visuals, sound, lighting, and interactivity for on-site implementation.
My Role
Content creation, Media server programming, 3D mapping, Sequencing, Lighting, Sound designing, Audio processing, and integration
miniature Prototyping
Projector Placement
Projector Calibration
Material Study
Screen SEtup
Initial idea of screen setup but soon we realised this would not work efficiently in the given place. So, we had to change to circular screen with the monolith in the middle (below image).
Screen Mapping
Sequencing
Unreal Engine - rendering
Composing the shot, placement of the character, background, and the camera.
Camera movement and rotation.
Animation and sequencing the entire shot.
Unreal Engine 5.4 - WIP screenshots of composing, arranging, and sequencing shots for the center piece (projection on the pillar).
I created a large museum hall with proper lighting, shaders, components, and textures. And placed Cinecamera for multiple cinematic shots in Unreal Engine 5.4.
Final rendered shots from UE5. Ratio scaled to fit the wide projection screens.
Sound Designing
I recorded, processed and engineered audio to match the entire visual content. I used some samples from soundly and some live recordings to create the desired soundscape. All the sounds were recorded and engineered in Protools and AVID S6 Console in the music studio at ASU MIX Center.
Mapping and Calibration
Sequence Programming
Programing the content to be played by each of the projector, each stem links to one of the projectors (labelled according to the projector placement).
